With the foundation of the art and design faculty in 1993, only 4 years after the fall of the communist regime, a new era for the venerable institution started. Changing the name into Bauhaus-University set high standards, as the name comes with an ambitious program and aspirations. Not red, yellow or blue but designing for tomorrow, learning and experimenting should actively shape the profile. A new visual identity should support this cultural change and make it tangible.
Our solution was a simple and timeless corporate design, which would offer a lot of freedom for individually designed publications as well as for an overall lively image communication.
The former logo was replaced by a graphic principle of type, range of colors and image series. On the behalf of the constantly recurring information brochures, the editors carry out the layout in prefabricated templates. For the guidance system materials were chosen that match with the institution and are easy to update. In order to be able to move easily from one place to another, a rental system of university bicycles for students and employees was conceived.
What began as a project with students became one of the major implementation tasks within the university. I was involved in the development from the very beginning, as head of the project office, and was responsible for the implementation and integration.
